If you're traveling to Madagascar for the first time and want to see as much as possible, this tour is for you. We'll make your dream come true, making your stay on the Big Island unforgettable. From your airport pick-up, our goal is to help you discover the true beauty of Madagascar. Throughout this tour, you'll go from discovery to discovery, rich in colors, images, emotions, and sensations.
ROUTE
Day 1: ARRIVAL AT ANTANANARIVO
Welcome by the 4wdmada team, transfer to the Hotel and briefing for the tour.

DAY 2: TANA – TSARASAOTRA – ANDASIBE
Morning visit the private park of Tsarasaotra, which is a RAMSAR site. This tranquil oasis is a nesting site
for several bird species such as Squacco Heron, Little Grebe, Black Heron...
Then departure to Andasibe (4H drive). Visit the Pereyras reserve on the way.
DAY 3: VISIT ANDASIBE MANTADIA NP
Full day birding in the Mantadia National Park which is a medium altitude rainforest and is home to no
fewer than 109 species of birds, including the Scaly ground roller, blue coua, nuthatch vanga... The park
is also home to Diademed Sifaka.
DAY 4: VISIT ANALAMAZOTRA NP AND BACK TO TANA
Breakfast at the lodge and during the morning, we visit the Analamazaotra National Park. The rainforest
shelters the largest lemur, the Indri Indri, easily observable. The park is also home to other bird species
like red-fronted coua, tylas vanga, velvet asity...
DAY 5: TANA – ANTSIRABE – RANOMAFANA
Breakfast and departure to Antsirabe (4h). Free lunch in a restaurant and continuation to Ranomafana
National Park (5H drive).
DAY 6: VISIT RANOMAFANA NP
The rainforest of the national park is home to 96 species of birds, some of them are endemic such as the
brown mesite, Pollen’s vanga, yellow-bellied sunbird-asity or Henst’s goshawk.
DAY 7: RANOMAFANA- ANJA RESERVE- RANOHIRA
We leave very early to reach Ranohira (7H). Along the way, we visit the Anja community forest to observe
the ring-tailed lemur. This reserve is a fine example of a successful ecotourism initiative led by the local
community.
DAY 8: VISIT ISALO NP
Discovery of Isalo National Park. We leave for a trek through the ruiniform massif to observe the Benson
rock-trush, Madagascar cuckoo-roller, white-throated rail... Free picnic lunch in the park. Free dinner.
DAY 9: RANOHIRA – VISIT ZOMBITSE NP- ARBORETUM ANTSOKAY-TULEAR
Early departure to the dry forest of Zombitse National Park (1H30 drive), home to endemic birds such as
Appert’s greenbul, crested coua, white-browed owl. After a short hike through the park, we continue to
Tulear (2H drive). Visit the arboretum Antsokay along the road.
DAY 10: TULEAR – ANAKAO – TSIMANAMPETSOTSA – ANAKAO
Transfer by boat to Anakao (1H of boat), then drive to Tsimanampetsotsa National Park (2H30 of bumpy
road). The site is of biological importance especially for its waterfowl. Among the 112 species of bird,
some are endemic such as the Madagascar plover or Peregrine.
DAY 11: ANAKAO – NOSY VE – ANAKAO
We go for a pirogue ride to Nosy Ve (45 min pirogue), to observe the Paille en Queue, the island is a
nesting site of this very rare bird, picnic lunch based on seafood on the beach then pirogue ride back to
Anakao in the afternoon.
DAY 12: ANAKAO – TULEAR- IFATY
Speedboat transfer to Tulear (1H of boat) and drive to Ifaty.
On the way we visit the Honko community reserve.
Birding along the edge of the mangrove and reeds offers a great place for bird watching.
The site offers the opportunity to observe a variety of wetland birds in the region such as the little grebe,
Little Bittern, the Black Heron, purple heron and Madagascar kestrel.

DAY 13: IFATY
Breakfast and visit the spiny bush of Reniala Baobab forest to observe the long-tailed ground roller,
Lafresnaye’s vanga, subdesert mesite...
DAY 14: IFATY – TULEAR – TANA
Transfert to the airport of Tuléar for domestic flight to Antananarivo.
DAY 15: TANA – TRANSFERT TO THE AIRPORT
Visit the capital of Madagascar if possible (Queen’s palace, Haute ville, Analakely market, ...) before
taking the international flight.
